I have to add my personal observation. I have seen penniless people go and support their own caste even if it means their exploitation just because he doesn't want other caste to be his representative.Casteist people give more importance to caste even at the cost of economic loss

In India this caste identity is much more rigid than the class. Access to capital is specifically denied to favour the social capital of certain caste even at cost of mediocrity and reduced returns. Isn't caste determines to large extent the access to means of production in India

Caste incidentally is an economic base. When Communists call India Semi-Feudal it is exactly considering that it is still transitioning. Caste when seen only from an ID Pol lens and not an economic one is the reason why it cannot integrate into something bigger.

Just like capitalism uses consumerist tendencies to hook people in to their system, caste too gets people addicted to it through a sense of false pride it gives. It is true only a few rich uses and maintain the superstructure of caste for their economic benefit. But people willingly subject themselves to hegemony of caste structure as it keeps some people below them in hierarchy regardless of their economic status. And they try to preserve it even if it doesn't provide them economic benefit. Just like capitalism creates a middle class who owns no means of production but depend on capitalist for their well being the caste in India creates a class of people who are of same caste as a buffer to revolution from below. through the hegemony over superstructure the UC it creates a class which consciously put their caste interest over their economic interest. 

My question is when people give priority to caste than economy how can class consciousness can be brought up among the people simply by talking only about economic issues? Isn't it very much essential part of the struggle to create counter hegemony to caste interest? Won't id.pol play a major role in such war over capture of hegemonical structures?
